In 1822, they rose under Chittur Singh, plundered the country around Satara. From 1825-26, eruptions led by Umaji Naik occurred. In 1839, the deposition of Raja Pratap Singh triggered a revolt. From 1840-41, further disturbances were suppressed by the British.
