Jagannath Singh led the uprising in 1768, Company capitulated, Chuar sardars rebelled in 1771 but were suppressed. A major uprising under Durjan Singh occurred in 1798, with 1,500 Chuars attacking Raipur auction. The British brutally suppressed the revolt in 1799.
