The Chief Minister enjoys the following powers in relation to the governor:

  1. He/she is the principal channel of communication between the governor and the council of ministers.
  2. It is the duty of the Chief Minister to:
    1. Communicate to the Governor all decisions of the council of ministers relating to state administration and legislative proposals.
    2. Furnish such information as the governor may call for.
    3. Submit for the consideration of the council of ministers any matter on which a decision has been taken by a minister but not considered by the council, if the governor so requires.
  3. He/she advises the governor on the appointment of important officials like the advocate general, chairman/members of the state public service commission, and state election commissioner.
