Disqualification does not apply if:
- A member goes out of their party as a result of a merger of the party with another party, provided two-thirds of the members have agreed to such merger.
- A member, after being elected as the presiding officer of the House, voluntarily gives up their party membership or rejoins it after ceasing to hold that office.
